patchwork

My latest ongoing project...my hexy patchwork...taking shape...v-e-r-y s-l-o-w-l-y!!! I love doing it but it does take a while to look like its going anywhere when you are time limited like me.

I have lots of patches made up...I made a decision that no 2 patches on my quilt (yes quilt..I aim high!!) will be the same so I have made a good start cutting squares from my stash....
Some more squares ready to go....I still have a shelf left to snip from....but I have been greatly helped along on the no two patches the same thing by a lovely blogging lady who wanted to do a swap for her string patchwork (you have to scroll past Mary's simply stunning almost finished hexagon quilt to get to the part where you see her simply stunning string patchwork patches!!) I asked Mary if I could swap strips for squares and now I have a pile of fabric squares to play with and deep envy of Mary's fabric stash!!!!!Whilst cutting out strips (even with a rotary...most definately NOT my favourite job, the cutting bit) I decided to cut double and attempt some string patches myself...too late for this challenge...but I plan to make a few!! In the mean time...I found a way to keep a certain someone occupied for a whole half hour. (excuse the yoghurt coated jumper) Laying out the strips of fabric...and I swear I also saw him stroke them as he lined them up!!! I have high hopes for this boy!!

Ohooo Claire all your fabric looks lovely and what beautiful fabric Mary sent you, she has a house full of it I am sure, she is the fabric queen in fact :) Mary too sent me the prettiest fabric for my little curtain along with your special fabric. Wow there is a whole load of fabric love and sharing going on at the moment, tis lovely.

And what can I say about your hexagon work, simply divine, can't wait to see it finished, I really can't. Well done clever crafty you :)

I am glad little boy is stepping up to the mark ;)

hexys are looking fab, mine is still 'almost done', although i have made a bit more progress today!! - its been really great to swap fabric for all the lovley projects everyone has on the go at the moment. It makes it special to stitch fabric from such nice friends xx - if you can progress little one from stroking to sewing he could help to speed things up!

Hexy quilt looks good so far. I've only made quilts with squares or random square/rectangle shapes - not sure I'm neat enough for Hex's.

Good to see you're training one of the small ones properly ;)

Marvelous work and beautiful fabrics! I'm still in two minds about what to do with the recovered hexagon patchwork pieces I found - lots of work has already gone into them and PERHAPS I could finish them off, but actually I don't like any of the fabrics. I can't tell if it's worth it or not. Now, if I'd found something that looked like yours, the decision would be easy!

Looking fab Claire :) nice to see how its coming along. Mitty has the most fantastic stash and I have been lucky to get some lovely purple for my quilt!
Love the little man playing with the fabric - genius!

Oh yes I'd forgotten the joys of giving a child a pile of fabric squares to play with! Must do that again (though you are brave letting him do it in a yoghurty jumper... come to think of iy my kids are always grubby so that's probably why it's been a while haha).

Some beautiful fabrics there and your patchwork is looking stunning, the quilt will be so lovely.

You must have so much patience to even iron all those little hexies in place Claire! It's nice you are making a girly quilt, you probably need a bit of pink around you. It's coming along nicely and is just beautiful!

What a dear little boy, such a little helper. They do enjoy playing with nice fabrics don't they?

I have left all my string quilt offcuts, which are mainly triangles, on a board and my girls enjoy making pictures out of them.

It's looking great! Can't wait to see the finished article. I'm doing some patchwork at the moment too, it is labour intensive and it takes ages to see some results!

What size squares are you using? I would love to send you some if you email me your address.

It is going to look great once it is finished...I admire your patience, I'd love to have a go, but think I'd give up too easily, especially at the moment.

Looks lovely Claire ... mind the ends of your fingers though ... I made one a couple of years ago and my fingertips were a right mess by the time I'd finished all the hand-sewing .... never again for me but I can't wait to see yours finished x
